Only arms-producing countries benefit from the situation in Ukraine, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina said on Thursday.
"We are witnessing that only weapon-producing countries are benefiting [from the crisis in Ukraine]," she was quoted as saying by the United News Bangladesh news portal.
According to the prime minister, the events in Ukraine have resulted in sanctions that threaten the global economy. "Developed countries are facing serious problems. Now they have started saving energy and fuel, worrying about food security and are taking various steps," the prime minister of the South Asian country said.
She pointed out that countries like Bangladesh, which aspire to become developed, face obstacles along the way. "All countries have taken different initiatives to save fuel, and we are also following this," she added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation on February 24 in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow's plans did not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. After that, the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, and a number of other states imposed large-scale anti-Russian sanctions and increased arms supplies to the Ukrainian authorities.
