Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and Mintimer Shaimiev visited Bolgar

Today, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and Tatarstan State Counsellor, co-founder of the Group of Strategic vision "Russia - Islamic World" Mintimer Shaimiev visited Bolgar for the ceremony of cancellation of the postage stamp issued in honor of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

 

 


The ceremony was held at the Bulgarian Islamic Academy.

 

 


Mintimer Shaimiev thanked  Aga Khan for his attention to Tatarstan.

 

 


Karim Aga Khan, in his turn, stressed the importance of people's preserving the values of the religion they profess.

 

 


"It is a great happiness for me to participate in this ceremony — the cancellation of a special stamp. This is of great importance in the preservation of peace, " he said, in particular.

 

 


The Prince's program in Bolgar also includes visiting the White mosque complex, as well as a tour of the architectural monuments of the Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex, the Museum of Bulgarian civilization, Memorial Sign-Quran Museum and the city center.

 

 


His highness arrived in Tatarstan to participate in the Aga Khan Award for Architecture ceremony, which is held today in Kazan. One of the award winners is Tatarstan Public Spaces Development Programme.
