Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday and discussed with him the current topics of the two countries' agenda and the fight against the spread of the coronavirus over the phone, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday, following the telephone conversation between the two leaders.
"During the phone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday. They discussed pressing topics on the bilateral agenda with a focus on trade and economic cooperation and interaction in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection," the press service noted.
The Kremlin added that the heads of states confirmed the mutual intention to the further comprehensive development of the Russian-Turkmen strategic partnership.
Earlier, Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Berdimuhamedov. The Turkmen president turned 64 years old on Tuesday. He has been president of the republic since 2007.
