Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. This was reported Monday by the Kremlin press service.
"They discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade and economic and energy sectors, as well as cooperation within OPEC+ to ensure the stability of the world oil market," the statement said.
The last time the leader of the Russian state and the Saudi crown prince spoke by telephone was in September 2022.
The countries participating in the OPEC+ agreement at a meeting on October 5, 2022, agreed to reduce oil production by 2 million barrels per day (bpd) from November, and extended the deal until the end of 2023. The OPEC+ deal quotas as of August 2022 were taken as the basis for the oil production cuts. At a meeting on December 4, the countries of the alliance decided to maintain the current oil production plan. Russia's quota under the plan is set at 10.478 million bpd.
