Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart will take part in a forum of interregional cooperation between the two countries, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday.
"We are preparing for the next forum of interregional cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan with the participation of heads of state," the Russian prime minister said.
He noted that the countries have formed a substantive agenda on the lines of the cabinet of ministers. "There are great opportunities for joint work. Trade and economic cooperation is developing at a good pace. In the first half of 2021, the mutual trade turnover grew by more than a third. We expect a good, record figure by the end of the year, there are all the prerequisites for this," Mishustin told the Kazakh president.
The head of the Russian government also pointed to the successful cooperation between the two countries in the field of investment. Thus, according to him, Russian business is involved in 32 major projects in Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstani colleagues are actively involved in projects in Russia. In this case, he added, an important role is played by interregional dialogue.
Mishustin discussed with Tokayev the joint struggle of the two countries against the pandemic coronavirus. In particular, he recalled the launch of the production of the Russian covid vaccine in Kazakhstan, adding that 5 million doses of the drug have been produced here since the beginning of 2021. "I am sure that mass immunization of the population will allow us to finally cope with this infection," the Russian prime minister said.
He conveyed to Tokayev "the best and warmest wishes from Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin" and thanked the Kazakh leader for his warm welcome. Mishustin recalled that his first foreign visit as prime minister was to this country. "We sincerely value friendship, partnership and cooperation with fraternal Kazakhstan," he added.
