A fundamentally new world order is emerging, unlike previous systems such as the Westphalian or Yalta-Potsdam international arrangements, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during his speech at the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.
The president remarked that society is currently in an era of "radical, revolutionary changes" and actively participating in some of the most complex processes in today's world. Putin emphasized that, despite facing numerous new challenges, nations are becoming increasingly aware of their "intrinsic value, uniqueness, and identity."
"There is a significant conflict," Putin explained, "between the overwhelming majority of the world’s population and a ‘global minority’—a tension between the majority's desire to thrive in an interconnected world brimming with opportunities and the minority's pursuit to maintain its dominance."
Looking ahead, the Russian leader predicted that the next 20 years could prove to be even more challenging than the last. This potential difficulty, he noted, arises from a complex interplay of various factors shaping the future trajectory of human history.
