Putin called the talks with Aliyev and Pashinian on Karabakh important and useful

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the observance of agreements to resolve the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh important and useful.


"I consider today's meeting extremely important and useful because we were able to agree and signed a joint statement on the development of the situation in the region," the Russian leader said following trilateral talks on Monday. He said he was referring to specific steps to develop economic ties and infrastructure projects.


The Russian president added that for this purpose "a working group will be created, which will be headed by the deputy prime ministers of the three governments -  Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia". Putin specified that in the near future the deputy prime ministers will create working subgroups and present specific plans for the development of transport infrastructure and the economy of the region. "I am sure that the implementation of these agreements will benefit both the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples, without any doubt will benefit the region as a whole, and therefore the interests of the Russian Federation," the Russian head of state stressed.


Putin again thanked his interlocutors for agreeing to come to Moscow. He also added that all three sides agreed that the terms of November 9, 2020, agreement were generally respected, there were no serious incidents, and the Russian peacekeeping group was fulfilling its obligations in full. The Russian leader said that more than 48,000 displaced people and refugees had already returned to Nagorno-Karabakh and that intensive work was underway to restore infrastructure, energy and various buildings.
