Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan's national holiday, Independence Day, noting the dynamically developing constructive cooperation between the two countries. The text of the congratulatory telegram was published on Wednesday on the website of the Azerbaijani president.
"Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Independence Day. Your country has achieved impressive successes in economic and social fields. Azerbaijan enjoys a well-deserved authority on the world stage and plays an active role in addressing many important issues on the international agenda. Russian-Azerbaijani relations have reached the level of allied cooperation, and constructive bilateral cooperation in various areas is developing dynamically," he said in the message.
The Russian president expressed confidence that through joint efforts further building of a full range of partnership relations for the benefit of the two friendly peoples will be ensured.
Putin wished Aliyev good health and success, and happiness and prosperity to the citizens of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan celebrates its Independence Day on 28 May.
