Russian President Vladimir Putin extended warm birthday wishes to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, praising his contributions to the development of Azerbaijan and the strengthening of strategic and allied relations between Baku and Moscow.
“Dear Ilham Heydarovich, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your birthday. Under your leadership, friendly Azerbaijan is confidently advancing in its socio-economic development and solidifying its position on the global stage. Your personal role in building and strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between our nations cannot be overstated,” Putin stated in his message, published on the Kremlin's website.
Putin emphasized his appreciation for his friendly relations with Aliyev and expressed his readiness to continue working together on pressing bilateral and international issues.
“I sincerely wish you, dear Ilham Heydarovich, robust health, happiness, and prosperity. Please convey my warmest regards to your family,” Putin concluded.
Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev was born on December 24, 1961, in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR (now the Republic of Azerbaijan). His father, Heydar Aliyev (1923–2003), served as the president of Azerbaijan from 1993 to 2003. Ilham Aliyev was first elected president on October 15, 2003, and subsequently re-elected in 2008, 2013, 2018, and 2024.
