Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated first Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva on her birthday, noting her contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. The text of the message was published on the website of the President of Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
"Dear Mehriban Arifovna, please accept my warmest congratulations on your birthday. As a true friend of Russia, you are making a significant contribution to the strengthening of strategic partnership relations between our countries. I am confident that these relations will continue to develop fruitfully in all areas for the benefit of the Russian and Azerbaijani peoples," the message of congratulations reads. The head of the Russian state wished Alieva good health, well-being and success in state activities.
Mehriban Aliyeva was born on August 26, 1964 in Baku. In 1988, she graduated with honors from the first Moscow state medical Institute named after I. M. Sechenov. In February 2017, she was appointed first Vice-President of Azerbaijan. She also heads the country's largest non-governmental organization, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and is a goodwill Ambassador for UNESCO and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). Last year, Alieva was awarded the order of Friendship "for services to the development and strengthening of Russian-Azerbaijani relations".
