Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan discussed the ceasefire agreements in Nagorno-Karabakh between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia during a telephone conversation initiated by the Turkish side. The Kremlin's press service reported on the results of the conversation between the leaders of the two countries.
"Vladimir Putin informed his Turkish counterpart of the contents of the arrangements reached with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, as set forth in their trilateral Statement dated November 9, 2020. Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised Russia for its mediation efforts, which create a solid foundation for bringing about a lasting comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the statement reads.
Besides, the leaders of the two countries noted the importance of the agreement on a complete ceasefire, which allowed stopping military operations, and agreed to continue working together to implement the package of measures set forth in the Statement.
Putin and Erdogan also discussed cooperation in the Syrian direction, including coordinating efforts to facilitate the political process and resolve humanitarian problems, the Kremlin added.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the document, a Russian peacekeeping contingent will be deployed along the line of contact and along the Lachin corridor.
