Putin discussed with Pashinian the situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Kremlin press service reported.


"In a telephone conversation initiated by the Armenian side, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation following a number of incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," the statement said.


The Kremlin noted that Putin and Pashinyan agreed to continue contacts on the matter.


On Tuesday, intense fighting broke out between Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces in the border areas of Armenia's Syunik region. According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, the Armenian military attacked Azerbaijani military posts, two servicemen were wounded. The Armenian Defense Ministry reported that Azerbaijani forces shelled Armenian positions on the eastern border, there were killed and wounded.
