22 October

Russia places significant importance on deepening its relations with African nations, President Vladimir Putin emphasized during a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Governor’s Palace in Kazan, held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

“Russia is highly committed to enhancing its ties with African countries, and we are working together to implement the practical outcomes of the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg. This includes the joint declaration and the action plan that will guide us through 2026,” Putin said.

The Russian leader also mentioned that the country is preparing to host South Africa’s foreign minister in Sochi on November 9-10 for the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.

Touching on international issues, Putin pointed out that “Russia and South Africa coordinate their efforts closely on the global stage, striving to establish a fair and just multipolar world order.” He further noted that the two countries' bilateral relations “are grounded in the principles of a comprehensive strategic partnership, equality, and mutual respect.”
