Putin: Russia will closely coordinate with partners during CIS presidency

Russia, presiding in the CIS next year, plans to work in close coordination with all members of the Commonwealth. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the prime ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

 

"Russia will take over the presidency in the CIS next year. And we are set to cooperate more closely with partners in the Commonwealth in implementing the ambitious plans," he said.

 

Putin assured that Russia will also take into consideration the initiatives that were discussed by the prime ministers during the talks in Sochi. "In conclusion, I would like to thank the participants of today's meeting and express my confidence that by working together, helping each other, we will be able to achieve tangible results in developing multifaceted cooperation between our states, and therefore our nations," summed up the Russian president.

 

The Commonwealth of Independent States is a regional interstate organization, which currently unites 11 post-Soviet countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine).


The Eurasian Economic Union is an international organization of economic integration that includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; Cuba, Moldova and Uzbekistan have the status of observer states.
