21 October

Russian President Vladimir Putin will head to Kazan at the end of the day on October 21, ahead of the BRICS summit scheduled to take place from October 22-24. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov shared this information with reporters.

“In the evening, the president will travel to Kazan, where tomorrow a busy schedule awaits him as part of the BRICS summit,” Peskov stated.

According to Peskov, it will be an “extremely demanding week” for the president. On Monday, Putin will hold formal talks with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Later in the day, several private meetings and discussions on domestic matters are planned.

The 16th BRICS summit, the central event of Russia's presidency in the organization, will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. BRICS was originally formed in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. As of January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia have become full members. This summit will mark the first to include the group's new members, with representatives from over 30 countries expected to attend. Among the foreign leaders arriving in Kazan are Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith.
