Russia will support Muslim countries in overcoming regional crises and combating manifestations of terrorism and extremism, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured in a greeting to participants of the 12th Russia-Islamic World International Economic Summit, which opens Wednesday in Kazan.
"Relations between Russia and Muslim countries are traditionally friendly and constructive. We actively cooperate in the interests of promoting inter-faith and inter-civilization dialogue, ensuring international stability and security, and building a more just and democratic world order. Multifaceted ties in trade and economic, investment, scientific and technical, humanitarian and many other areas give a good return," the Russian leader said in a message published on the Kremlin website.
"I would like to emphasize that our partners can fully count on the support and assistance of the Russian Federation in efforts to overcome regional crises and acute social problems, in countering all manifestations of terrorism and extremism," Putin said in his greeting.
The president expressed confidence in the content and constructiveness of the discussions at the event.
International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic world: KazanSummit" has been held for 12 years, but last year it was canceled due to the pandemic coronavirus. For the first time, the forum was held in 2009, receiving 250 participants, and in 2019 it was visited by more than 3.5 thousand people. The organizers have identified the main goal of the summit as establishing cooperation and maintaining a dialogue in the economic, political and cultural spheres between Russia and the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
