At the same time, he clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin would later decide on the timing of publication of the article. "We are waiting for his [Putin's] decision on the timing of publication," he said in response to a question about whether the article can be published before the Victory Day parade, which will be held on June 24.
Earlier, Peskov said that Putin planned to write and publish an article about events related to World war II, but the timing of its release would be associated with the dates of the main celebrations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory.
The head of the Russian state announced plans to prepare an article on the events that preceded the war and based on archival documents in December 2019 at a large press conference. Recently, in his public speeches, he has paid considerable attention to these events, including the so-called Munich agreement, as well as the role of individual European countries, including Poland. The President has repeatedly noted the inadmissibility of falsifying the history of the war, in particular, called unacceptable and incorrect the decision of the European Parliament, which equated the role of the USSR to the role of Hitler's Germany.
This year, mass events on the occasion of Victory Day were postponed due to the epidemiological situation due to the spread of the coronavirus. On May 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced that the Victory parade would be held on June 24, the day when the historic victory parade took place in 1945.
