Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo. The meeting was held at the RT Government House. Permanent Representative of Russia to the OIC Ramazan Abdulatipov also took part in the meeting.
Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo arrived in Kazan to take part in the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2023."
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Mr. Sengendo for the visit and stressed that KazanForum is the largest platform to discuss cooperation between Russia and Muslim countries. The business program of the forum includes about 200 events on such relevant topics as international cooperation, Islamic finance, Halal industry, investments, etc.
The rais of the Republic underlined that Tatarstan has a great experience of cooperation with different divisions of the OIC. These include the Islamic Development Bank, the Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture - IRCICA, the OIC Youth Forum, the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic World, and others. A great deal of work is being done through the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World".
Rustam Minnikhanov noted the great potential of Russia's trade and economic cooperation with the OIC countries. "On the example of Tatarstan we seek to fine-tune practical mechanisms of interaction with Islamic business," he added.
