Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation, said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper that electronics and materials for instrumentation are purchased in South-East Asia.
"This mainly concerns electronics and components for the instrument-making industry. As for these components, it remains possible to buy them in South-East Asia," the newspaper quotes him as saying.
The head of Rostec noted that at the moment the state corporation is doing its best to produce its own electronic component base (ECB). According to him, over the last six years about 170 developmental works have been carried out, more than 700 types of ECB have been created, and about 1,300 samples of foreign ECB have been substituted. "This is only from our part. Not only we are working, but other domestic companies as well. The work is very painstaking, it cannot be done overnight. As they say, perseverance wins", Chemezov emphasized.
Chemezov also said that at the moment in order to saturate the market with inexpensive cars there is a lack of ABS units, and to solve this problem it is necessary to create their own production. "We should not forget that in addition to passenger cars, ABS modules will also be needed for the production of trucks and commercial vehicles. So far they are imported from China," he said.
