Russia and Indonesia sign agreement on cybersecurity

Russia and Indonesia have concluded an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of international information security, the press service of the Russian Security Council reported.


The document was signed in Jakarta, where Russian-Indonesian security consultations were held. The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev signed the agreement on behalf of the Russian government, and the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Mohammad Mahfud signed it on behalf of the Indonesian government.


"According to the signed agreement, Russia and Indonesia have agreed to carry out cooperation in the field of international information security in order to maintain international peace, security and stability," the report said.


The parties have identified areas of interaction, including the identification, development, coordination and implementation of necessary joint measures in the field of international information security.


The importance of creating a system of prevention, monitoring and joint response to threats arising in this sphere was declared. Moscow and Jakarta also agreed to exchange information on the illegal use of information and communication technologies, computer incidents, malicious software, computer attacks and other ways of illegal use of IT technologies.


The agreement stresses the need for cooperation between the parties to improve the existing model of Internet governance.


Russia and Indonesia also agreed to develop and implement joint measures of trust in the use of technologies that contribute to international information security, a coordinated policy on data protection, including protection of personal data, in cross-border information exchange.


In addition, it is planned to exchange information on national legislation in the field of information security.


It is planned that the parties will jointly investigate, monitor, detect, prevent and suppress threats related to the illegal use of IT technologies.


The Russian Security Council and the Indonesian National Agency for Cybersecurity and Cryptography were appointed as coordinating bodies for the implementation of the agreement.
