Russia and Iran Near Completion of Strategic Partnership Treaty, Says Kabulov

22 January

Zamir Kabulov, the Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, announced that the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran is in the final stages of preparation, with its signing expected in the near future.

"The draft document's text is being finalized, and once complete, the presidents of both countries will decide on the signing details,"  Kabulov told TASS.

He emphasized that the treaty is close to completion and anticipates a swift finalization.

While specific dates for the signing have not been disclosed, Kabulov highlighted that the document's advanced state of readiness negates the necessity for any preliminary meetings before its formal signing.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had previously mentioned that the new interstate treaty is expected to be signed during one of the upcoming contacts between the presidents of Russia and Iran. She clarified that the treaty would encompass the entire spectrum of multifaceted Russian-Iranian relations.
