Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with the President of the Republic of Sudan Omar al-Bashiromi, as well as the Director of the National Security and Intelligence Service, the Minister of Defense and the Foreign Minister.
As reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the meetings, a range of issues were discussed regarding the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations. Moscow and Khartoum confirmed their intention to build up a mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment partnership, as well as expanding cooperation in the humanitarian and other fields. Special attention was paid to the Middle East, African and international agenda.
At the same time, the importance of maintaining an active political dialogue and close coordination between Russia and Sudan, including in the UN and other multilateral formats, was stressed.
