Russia condemns the militants' attack on a gendarmerie post in the province of Soum in northern Burkina Faso, which caused numerous casualties, and expresses sympathy to the families and friends of the victims. This was stated in a comment by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova distributed on Wednesday.
"According to available information, this attack was the most large-scale action against Burkinabe security personnel since 2017. We strongly condemn this bloody crime. We express our words of deep sympathy to the families and friends of the victims," the document reads.
As the diplomat noted, Russia supports the efforts of Burkina Faso's leadership to combat the terrorist threat and ensure security throughout the country.
According to the latest data, on November 14, as a result of an armed attack of militants on the gendarmerie post in the north of Burkina Faso, in the province of Soum, 53 people died. The country has declared three days of mourning.
