Russia has repeatedly expressed to the United States that the participation of American mercenaries in attacks on Russian territory is unacceptable, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told TASS.
“This issue is raised consistently through various channels and at all levels where such contacts are maintained,” Ryabkov said in response to a related question.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova highlighted at a briefing that foreign mercenaries, including Americans, were actively involved in attacks on the Kursk region. She added that “American mercenaries brazenly posted a photo online showing the position of an Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) mortar crew near a playground in the Kursk region.”
A large-scale attack by the AFU on the Kursk region began on August 6. A federal state of emergency has been declared, and missile threats have been repeatedly announced. Residents of border areas are being evacuated to safer regions, with 197 temporary accommodation centers established across 28 regions. Over 11,500 people, including more than 3,500 children, are currently staying in these centers.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev has lost more than 8,200 servicemen and 76 tanks since the hostilities in the Kursk region began. The operation to neutralize AFU formations is ongoing.
