Russian diplomacy will continue to uphold the national interests, honor and dignity of the country which is going through a fateful stage in its history: the future of the world order and Russia's place in it are being decided, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at the stamp cancellation procedure dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian MFA.
"Today, our country is going through a fateful stage in its history. It is no exaggeration to say that the future of the world order and Russia's place in it are being determined. And, as always, diplomats are in demand in a special way. We will have to continue working persistently and creatively on the international arena for implementing the decisions of the Russian government to defend the national interests, honor and dignity and the historical legacy of Russia," he said.
The head of the foreign ministry added that the main goals of Russian foreign policy remain the provision of national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, "the creation of favorable external conditions for sustainable internal development and strengthening Russia's position as one of the centers of a multipolar world." "In cooperation with our partners, we will promote a constructive, unifying agenda and make a contribution commensurate with the country's geopolitical weight to maintaining global stability and developing international cooperation," the minister concluded.
