Russia is ready to mediate between official Damascus and Kurdish communities on the border with Turkey, Head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev told Tass.
"I am convinced that the accumulated concerns can be removed not by military operations, but by establishing lasting peace in a sovereign and territorially integral Syria, which first of all requires a dialogue between Damascus and the Kurdish communities on the border with Turkey. Indeed, we are ready to fully contribute to this dialogue in order to avoid escalation of the conflict in this area", - the parliamentarian said.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of the military operation entitled "Source of Peace" in the North-East of Syria. The aim of the operation is to eliminate terrorists at the border with Turkey and to create the safety zone for Syrian refugees currently living in Turkey.
