Russia is maintaining open communication with all parties involved in the Middle East conflict and will continue its efforts to de-escalate the situation, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov in response to questions from TASS.
“Russia is in contact with all sides in this conflict. We have ongoing communications with Tehran, Israel, and the Palestinians,” Peskov stated. “Undoubtedly, Russia is doing everything possible to encourage restraint and support any attempt to reduce tensions. We remain committed to this approach,” he assured.
Peskov emphasized that the situation in the region remains extremely tense, noting, “It's crucial to promote restraint at this time.”
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces announced strikes on military facilities in Iran, citing a response to “numerous ongoing attacks.” According to Iran’s air defense forces, targeted sites in the provinces of Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan sustained limited damage, and Iranian air defenses reportedly managed to intercept the main assault. Iran’s military confirmed that the strike resulted in the deaths of at least four Iranian servicemen.
On October 1, Iran had launched a major missile strike on Israel in response to the assassinations of key figures from Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite Iranian military unit. In response, the Israeli General Staff vowed retaliation. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that any further Iranian counter-strikes on Israel would be even more extensive.
