Russia does not intend to interrupt parliamentary cooperation with Turkey because of the military operation launched by Ankara in the North-East of Syria, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma Leonid Slutskiy told reporters.
"Even when someone makes the steps we do not agree with, closing the door means to cease to exist as a factor in influencing the situation we do not agree with. Therefore, there is no curtailment of inter-parliamentary cooperation with the Grand National Assembly of Turkey", - TASS quotes the parliamentarian.
At the same time, Slutskiy admitted that some events may be postponed, but in general, according to him, the contact between the parliamentarians will remain.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of the military operation entitled "Source of Peace" in the North-East of Syria. The aim of the operation is to eliminate terrorists at the border with Turkey and to create the safety zone for Syrian refugees currently living in Turkey.
