Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian have voiced their concern over the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
"Significant focus was directed towards the ongoing situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. Both parties expressed mutual concern regarding the continued escalation and worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. The necessity of an immediate ceasefire and urgent aid to the affected civilian population was underscored, along with a call for the mobilization of UN authority to address these pressing issues," stated the Russian Foreign Ministry in a release following a telephone conversation initiated by the Iranian side on December 11.
The ministry stated that the foreign ministers extensively discussed the current issues of bilateral cooperation, building on the outcomes of the ongoing talks between the presidents of the two countries in Moscow on December 7. "Both sides have committed to expediting the process of finalizing the agreement for a new comprehensive interstate treaty, which is already in an advanced stage of development," reported the Russian Foreign Ministry.
