Russian company Unigreen Energy has initiated preparatory work for the construction of a 300 MW solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan, as announced during a meeting with the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Zhaparov, in Bishkek.
Discussions during the meeting covered the progress of the solar power plant project, located in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. Representatives from Unigreen Energy informed the head of the Cabinet of Ministers that document coordination with relevant authorities is nearing completion, and preparatory work on the solar power plant site has commenced.
Zhaparov emphasized the prioritization of projects related to renewable energy sources in Kyrgyzstan. He committed to exerting "maximum efforts to solve the issues hindering the realization of the project" and instructed the inclusion of this solar power plant project in the plan of priority projects for 2024.
The planned location for the solar power plant is near the village of Toru-Aigyr in the Issyk-Kul region, with an estimated project cost ranging from $270 million to $300 million. In April, the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers participated in the laying of a capsule at the construction site, marking a symbolic start to the project.
