Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iraqi Ambassador to Moscow Kahtan Taha Khalaf al-Janabi discussed the settlement in Syria, the Russian MFA said in a statement issued following the meeting on Friday.
"There was also an exchange of views on the key aspects of the Middle East agenda with a focus on the problems of the Syrian settlement," the ministry said.
In addition, the sides discussed the further development of "traditionally friendly Russia-Iraq relations, including the maintenance of regular political dialogue at various levels."
The meeting was held at the request of the Iraqi ambassador, the foreign ministry said.
