Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali discussed regional issues, including the situation in Syria, Yemen and the Persian Gulf zone, at a meeting on Friday.
"During the conversation, the sides exchanged detailed views on topical regional issues, including the situation in Syria, Yemen and the Persian Gulf zone. At the same time, the importance of active diplomatic efforts aimed at settling differences and general improvement of the situation in the Middle East was emphasized," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement published on its website.
