Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Ihab Nasr discussed on Monday prospects for a settlement in Libya, as well as strengthening cooperation between Moscow and Cairo in the trade and economic sphere.
"During the conversation, there was a detailed exchange of views on topical aspects of the development of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa region with a focus on the prospects for the settlement [of the situation] in Libya," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.
As indicated in the ministry, the sides also discussed priority issues of further strengthening the Russian-Egyptian cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
The meeting was held at the request of the Egyptian side.
