Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and EU Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala discussed in Moscow the issues of preventing a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan and providing aid to the civilian population of the republic.
"The parties exchanged assessments of the current situation in the Central Asian region, including the impact of recent events in Afghanistan on it. The need to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan and render aid to its peaceful population was emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The Foreign Ministry said that the sides also touched upon a number of issues on the regional agenda, the state of integration processes in Eurasia and the development of trade and economic cooperation.
