Russian Embassy: Russia Will Continue Supporting Lebanon After Israeli Attacks

03 October

Russia intends to continue assisting the Lebanese government and its citizens following recent Israeli attacks. This was confirmed by Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, in a statement to TASS.

“We hope to continue working with the Lebanese government to address the situation that has arisen here as a result of Israeli aggression against Lebanon and to provide support to the Lebanese people,” said Rudakov.

Earlier, a Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) Il-76 aircraft delivered 33 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut, including food, medicine, essential supplies, and 80 kW power generators. The mission was carried out on the orders of the Russian government in response to a request from the Lebanese authorities.

Rudakov highlighted that Russia is aware of the difficult conditions Lebanon and its people are facing, which is why this humanitarian assistance was provided.

On September 23, Israel launched Operation Northern Arrows against Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, conducting extensive strikes on the group's military targets. The stated goal is to create safe conditions in Israel's northern border areas to allow tens of thousands of residents to return. One of Israel's strikes on September 27 in Beirut resulted in the death of Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah. On the night of October 1, the Israeli military announced a ground operation in Lebanon’s southern border regions.
