IL-76 of the Russian EMERCOM with an extra group of 50 rescuers and 11 doctors has left for Turkey, the agency's press service told TASS on Wednesday.
"The IL-76 aircraft of the Russian EMERCOM has left for the Republic of Turkey with the second echelon of the airmobile group. As part of the execution of the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Emergency Minister Alexander Kurenkov decided to increase the group in cooperation with Health Minister Mikhail Murashko. Special aircraft will deliver 50 rescue workers and 11 doctors, as well as three pieces of equipment," said the press service.
The ministry of emergency situations added that there are also psychologists and specialists of the "Tsentrospas" rescue team of EMERCOM of Russia on board, as well as doctors from the federal institutions of the Russian ministry of health. The medical team consists of traumatologists, neurosurgeons, surgeons, children's surgeons, anesthesiologists and resuscitators.
Totally more than 100 rescuers of the Russian EMERCOM arrived in Turkey, carrying out search and rescue works in Kahramanmaras province, the hardest hit by the earthquake. First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Chupriyan said that Russian rescuers will work in Turkey until the Turkish authorities complete the search and rescue operation.
