Russia and Indonesia are discussing the possibility of supplying and localizing the production of Russian vaccines against coronavirus in the republic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at a press conference following talks with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
"We confirmed our readiness to cooperate closely with Indonesia on a bilateral basis, including not only the possibility of supplying vaccines but also their production in Indonesia," he said.
According to the minister, Moscow and Jakarta are convinced that vaccines should be available to the entire global community and support relevant initiatives of the UN and WHO.
Four vaccines are currently registered in Russia: Sputnik V and Sputnik Light of the Gamaleya Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, EpiVacCorona developed by the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor, and KoviVac, created by the Chumakov Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona and KoviVac vaccines are two-component, while Sputnik Light is a one-component vaccine.
