Russia records the silence and sometimes distortion of the situation around the implementation of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at a briefing on Thursday.

"We record information silence and even attempts to distort the situation around the implementation of the trilateral statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement," she said.

She also noted that the restrained reaction of Western countries to the adoption of the trilateral statement on Nagorno-Karabakh by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia is surprising.

"We see at least a restrained reaction to this statement, which led to the concrete implementation of its provisions. "Constrained" is the most applicable word to many of the statements that we have now heard from Western partners. From what, then?" - she said. - "Just a month or a month and a half ago, everyone wanted and expected a ceasefire. This cease-fire has taken place, it has been fixed and is being maintained. We don't see the real full-blown reaction that the West is capable of, and we know that when they react on a broad front, it becomes known and heard everywhere".

Zakharova noted that the adoption of the statement did not cause "excitement and a desire to welcome and comment on the statement, to encourage the parties to implement it, to note the role of Russia as a mediator". "Many statements by foreign policy officials of Western countries do not mention the role of Russia at all, as if it were a bilateral statement. It does not even say that the statement is trilateral. Surprisingly, it is also a fact. It is as if the positive and constructive role of our country should not be presented in any form in international affairs at all," the diplomat emphasized.
