Russian Foreign Ministry: West Imposes Approximately 20,000 Sanctions on Russia

29 July

The collective West has imposed around 20,000 sanctions on the Russian economy, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said speaking at a round table in the Federation Council.

“Approximately 20,000 different restrictive measures have already been imposed on Russia. Technically, they cannot be called sanctions, as sanctions are a legitimate measure imposed by the [UN] Security Council, while these are unilateral restrictive measures,” Pankin clarified.

He noted that the ongoing sanctions process by the US and the EU aims to weaken and destabilize Russia. “This strategy is ultimately flawed, despite being supported by a powerful campaign of disinformation utilizing today's diverse media channels,” the deputy minister remarked.
