Over 100 Russian language teachers from CIS countries are attending a four-day training session in Moscow focused on modern teaching technologies and promoting the Russian language in schools across the Commonwealth of Independent States. The training, organized as part of the “Language of Peace” program, began on Thursday, according to a TASS correspondent.
This program, a new initiative by the Eurasian Pedagogical Council under ANO Eurasia, aims to foster international relationships among teachers and strengthen the position of the Russian language across Eurasia. One of its key goals is to create a platform for developing supplementary educational programs in schools, universities, and colleges. These programs are designed to foster a language-rich environment that immerses students in Russian traditions and culture. Approved projects from this initiative will serve as foundational methodologies for promoting Russian language learning across participating CIS countries.
The event opened with remarks about the Eurasian Pedagogical Council's role in uniting teachers across Eurasia, highlighting the launch of this first holiday school for teachers. Participants will complete a final qualification project centered on establishing Russian language learning environments for children in CIS countries. Between October 31 and November 3, they will attend workshops covering a range of topics, including staging plays to be later performed with students. Discussions will also explore the role of teachers as nation-builders. The cultural program includes visits to the Victory Museum on November 1 and a city tour of Moscow on November 2.
Russian Deputy Minister of Education Olga Koludarova emphasized that the project aims to promote the Russian language abroad, preserve Russia’s cultural heritage, and foster support among educators. “It's essential to ensure high-quality teaching of Russian language, literature, and history, as well as provide textbooks for schools where Russian is taught,” she said.
The program has brought together more than 120 educators from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
