The Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on agreements between the Government of the Republic of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council. The signing of the agreement between the legitimate Yemeni authorities and the Southern Transitional Council operating in southern Yemen took place in Riyadh on November 5 in the presence of President of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Muhammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This document, as noted, envisions a set of administrative and political measures to overcome the differences that led to a surge of tensions in a number of south Yemeni provinces in late August of this year.
In particular, the Prime Minister of the government of the Republic of Yemen will begin his work in Aden within seven days, a new cabinet made up of 24 ministers, including an equal number of representatives from the north and the south, will be formed within 30 days, and the military units controlled by the sides will be put under the control of the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs of the Republic of Yemen.
"Moscow welcomes the decisions adopted in Riyadh. We see them as an important step towards consolidating Yemeni society and a positive example of achieving mutually acceptable solutions and compromises that are very much needed in Yemen today. As before, we are convinced that the Yemeni crisis has no military solution and that the restoration of long-awaited peace and stability in friendly Yemen is possible only through a broad national dialogue and respect for the interests of all patriotic forces in the country," the message reads.
