Russian MFA: Moscow is preparing for Uzbek President's visit in 2021

Russian deputy foreign minister Andrei Rudenko said that Russia was preparing for the state visit of Uzbek president Shavkat Mirziyoyev this year, during which a significant package of documents will be signed, including in the defense sphere.


"We are preparing for the state visit of Uzbekistan's president, which we hope will take place this year," the diplomat said at the opening of the conference "Russia and Uzbekistan facing development and security challenges at a new historical stage of interaction."


"A very significant package of documents has been prepared. First of all in the field of trade and economic cooperation, but also in other areas, including defense," Rudenko said.


According to the deputy foreign minister, Moscow and Tashkent expect that the visit will become a truly historic milestone.


The organizers of the conference in the Uzbek capital are the Institute for strategic and interregional studies under the president of Uzbekistan and the Valdai international discussion club.
