The position of the United States, which actually ignores international law in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, will not bring any result in solving the problem. This is stated in the comment of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Department published in connection with the consideration of Middle East issues in the UN Security Council.
"The destructive position of the Americans, contrary to the approaches of the vast majority of the members of the international community, once again demonstrates the line aimed at scrapping the internationally recognized legal framework for the Middle East settlement, enshrined in UN Security Council resolutions supported by Washington as well."
"We believe that the unilateral actions practiced by the Americans while ignoring international law will not give a result. They are destructive for the prospects for a just and long-term Palestinian-Israeli settlement," the Foreign Ministry notes.
On July 25, the United States blocked the adoption of a draft statement condemning the demolition of Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem, initiated by the Israeli authorities in mid-July, by the Security Council. The authors of the document were the delegations of Kuwait, Indonesia, and South Africa.
