Members of the Russian Armed Forces have engaged in early voting for the presidential election at the naval base in Tartus, Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"Crews from warships and auxiliary ships of the Black Sea and Pacific Fleets, as well as servicemen and civilian personnel of the Russian contingent of troops in the Syrian Arab Republic, participated in the early voting for the presidential election at the Russian Navy's station in Tartus, Syria. The election process was conducted in compliance with the federal law 'On the Election of the President of the Russian Federation,' " the agency stated.
The Federation Council has scheduled the presidential elections for March 17, 2024. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has determined that the voting will span three days: March 15, 16, and 17. This marks the first presidential election in Russia to be held over three days. Additionally, for the first time, remote electronic voting will be available for the election of the head of state. Residents of 28 regions, including Moscow, will have the opportunity to vote online.
