Peacekeepers and special forces of the Central Military District have been transferred to Uzbekistan to participate in joint exercises, where they will practice tasks to ensure territorial integrity on the border with Afghanistan, the press service of the district said in a statement on Friday.
"The subunits of the peacekeeping unit and the special purpose brigade of the Central Military District have completed regrouping at the Termez training range to take part in joint exercises with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the course of practical actions of the joint exercises, the soldiers will perform training and combat tasks for ensuring the territorial integrity of the state," the report says.
The Central Military District added that the delivery of soldiers, weapons and clothing items from Samara was carried out by a military transport aircraft Il-76.
About 1,500 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Russia and Uzbekistan will take part in the exercise. The exercises will be held from July 30 to August 10 in the area bordering Afghanistan and will involve military hardware, including aircraft.
