Russian robot became a member of the Abu Dhabi police

08 June 2020

The Russian robot Promobot of the SKOLKOVO Foundation resident company of  "Promobot" has become an employee of the Abu Dhabi police. It will patrol, conduct video surveillance of employees and visitors of the Metropolitan police facilities and measure the temperature of people, the company's press service reported.

The robot can communicate in English and Arabic. For its effectiveness, a special linguistic database has been developed that contains several thousand questions and answers, as well as a facial recognition system: Promobot "knows by sight" all police officers, visitors and wanted criminals.

"This is not the first such development experience for us: our robots are already working in the police of Kazakhstan, Russian MFC, mobile offices in Turkey, the National Bank of Oman, where they perform similar tasks. In this position, the robot eliminates all the so-called "human error" — it does not get tired, is not rude to visitors, is not late for work, and most importantly-it never makes mistakes. A person may forget the answer to a certain question or inadvertently incorrectly measure the temperature, but a robot-never, " Oleg Kivokurtsev, Director of development at Promobot commented.

Promobot company was founded in 2015 in Perm. It is the largest manufacturer of Autonomous service robots in Russia, Northern and Eastern Europe. Promobots are used as administrators, promoters, consultants, guides, and concierges, replacing or supplementing human employees. Promobot robots are already working at the Museum of the modern history of Russia, MFC, Sberbank, Baltimore-Washington airport, Dubai Mall. All the company's products are manufactured and developed in Russia.
