A formation of Russian Su-25 attack aircraft has been transferred from the combined Russian military base Kant in Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan to participate in the exercises of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan at the Harb-Maydon training ground 20 kilometers from Afghanistan. This was said in a statement issued on Thursday by the press service of the Central Military District.

"A platoon of Su-25 aircraft has been transferred from the airfield of the Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan to the Gissar airfield in Tajikistan to participate in a trilateral exercise to be held from August 5 to 10 in the Khatlon region at the Harb-Maydon range," the message reads.

The text indicates that Su-25 crews will search for camouflaged bases of a hypothetical enemy, carry out missile and bomb strikes on targets, as well as practice the techniques of escaping from the strikes of the enemy's portable anti-aircraft missile systems. Russian ground attack aircraft will also provide fire support from the air to mechanized infantry and tank units during the destruction of illegal armed formations in mountainous and desert areas.

Units of the 201st military base will form the basis of the Russian military contingent. More than 1,000 servicemen and about 200 units of armament and military hardware will be involved from Russia. More than 1.5 thousand people will take part in the exercise. The servicemen will practice defense against invading gangs and the destruction of radical terrorist groups.
