Russian troops will hold large-scale interspecific exercises in Crimea

Interspecific exercises involving warships and vessels of the Black Sea Fleet and Caspian Flotilla, as well as units of the Airborne Troops, Air Force and Air Defense Forces will be held at the Opuk polygon in Crimea as part of a control inspection of the Russian Armed Forces.


According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the main stage of the exercises of the troops of the Southern Military District and the Airborne Forces, which were held as part of a surprise inspection of combat readiness, will take place at the Opuk training ground on April 22.


"The practical actions of the troops will involve units of the combined arms association, the Air Force and Air Defense Association, combat ships and vessels, military units of the coastal troops of the Black Sea Fleet, part of the forces of the Caspian Flotilla of the Southern Military District, as well as units of the Airborne Troops," the ministry said.


They said that on the eve of the exercise the troops were transferred to the areas of concentration, a group of ships of the Black Sea Fleet, part of the Caspian Flotilla forces moved into the area of the exercise, forces and means of the coastal forces, air defense and anti-ship missile systems were deployed.

 

The training range is located 60 km from Feodosiya and 40 km from Kerch. Its capabilities make it possible to practice the tasks of landing troops and overcoming the enemy's anti-submarine defense, to carry out the landing of up to two battalions of marines simultaneously, to carry out firing at shore targets using ship-based artillery systems, and to engage the operational-tactical and army aviation.


Verification checks for the winter training period are conducted in all the military districts and the Northern Fleet including the regions of the Far North, the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka.


A total of more than 4,000 exercises of various scales will be conducted in the Russian Armed Forces in April.
