Russia’s Foreign Ministry: Rising Role of BRICS Strengthens the Global South

15 November

The growing influence of BRICS in championing the interests of the Global South is enhancing the prominence of developing nations on the global stage, Pavel Knyazev, Ambassador-at-Large for the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russia's Sous-Sherpa for BRICS, said during the international academic conference “The Future of Diplomacy and Diplomatic Services.”

“Currently, much of the potential in global affairs is shifting toward emerging centers of power, which are actively recruiting partners across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East,” Knyazev noted. “In terms of national roles, the increasing influence of BRICS in advancing the interests of the Global South underscores the growing voice of developing countries in international relations.”

Knyazev also read a message from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“Within BRICS, representatives of diverse countries, civilizations, religions, and cultures collaborate based on the organization’s principles of mutual respect, openness, and solidarity,” Lavrov highlighted. “In today’s evolving geopolitical landscape, the importance of diplomacy cannot be overstated.”
