Secretaries of Security Councils of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and Russia will now meet regularly, according to the Russian Security Council.

The first security consultations in such a format were held today in Almaty. Since 2019, Russia-Central Asia talks have been held at the level of foreign ministers. Last year, the first summit was also held.

"The first meeting of secretaries of security councils in the Central Asia-Russia format was held in Almaty. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev attended it," said in the press service. - "Given the importance of the issues discussed, it was suggested to hold meetings in this format regularly."

Patrushev and his Central Asian colleagues discussed security in the region. The countries confirmed that they were interested in further expanding cooperation in economic and humanitarian spheres, defense and security. They noted that it was important to deepen contacts through the security councils, law enforcement agencies and special services.

"Particular attention was paid to cooperation in counterterrorism, the joint fight against transnational crime and illegal drug trafficking, threats to the security of countries emanating from Afghanistan, countering Western attempts to break up the Collective Security Treaty Organization, CIS and Eurasian Economic Union, as well as further coordination of states on biosecurity issues," the Russian Security Council said.
